Vien’s first birthday

Posted by Rico on Jul-28-2009

Last Sunday afternoon, despite the heavy rains and the floods that inevitably follow a few minutes after, we went out to attend Vien’s first birthday party. If you can remember, my wife and her friend J. set up the event for Vien’s christening. In addition to decorating the place, she also made the cupcakes.

This time, though, she was just asked to make a whole cake made of fondant. Thank goodness! :o: Making one cake proved to be quite a challenge. We stayed up until 4 AM. :bloody: I was busy playing Warcraft in the bedroom, and she was making a mess in the kitchen! I did help cut out the stars though, which ate about 5 minutes of my game time. And from time to time, she would ask my opinion on something, so this is pretty much my thing too! :D

And what kind of good husband would I be if I wouldn’t feature her work here, right? So join me in gawking at these delicious cakes! :8

We brought Yuan with us. And he got to meet T2rad’s eight-month-old son Zach and of course the birthday boy, muscle-man Vien. As you can see, we weren’t able to get any decent picture of the boys together. :aie: :-|

Trisha’s months old son Phoenix was there too. Michelin Man cute! What is with the babies these days? They’re so big!

Anyway, Yuan had fun, as most of the kids did I’m sure. And that’s all that matters. It was very, very tiring looking out for a kid who just learned how to walk. But he had such a great time. Braving that rain was all worth it!

Lightning McQueen party

A couple of weekends ago, we had an advance first birthday for my wife’s pamangkin Yuan. Here are some highlights.

The birthday boy of course. He’s grown so big now and so makulit.

And the cupacake tower I made during an “Art Attack” moment (be kind, pinag-puyatan ko yata yan). Cutouts were by my sister-in-law (SIL) K. and placed on top of the green icing that’s made to look like grass.

Some of the best lumping shanghai I’ve tasted (spiked with basil).

A great shot of the birthday boy and my wife’s bestfriend J.

Happy Birthday Little Man from your Nong-Nong!

see you at Recipes

It was inevitable, personally meeting online friends, that is. It was set on a Sunday, lunch at Recipes by Cafe Metro, to celebrate Princess Dyanie’s (PD) birthday. My wife was supposed to come with me, but her old buddy J. dropped by the day before (Saturday) to celebrate Yuan’s (wifey’s pamangkin) advance first birthday and decided to stay overnight, and they spent the rest of Sunday catching up. And by “catching up” I mean going to Divi to do a bit of shopping and girl bonding. But she didn’t let me go empty handed to see the birthday girl. She made PD some cupcakes, of course.

In addition to partaking on delicious food, I got to meet some of the most wonderful people online. Jeanny and her hubby Dante, Kumareng Grace (she and my wife go way back during their elementary and high school CSA days; we’re all officemates now), and Princess Dyanie, of course. See their take on our meeting on their respective blogs here and here.

Huge thanks to Dyanie for setting this up. Till we meet again. Happy 25th!
