The woman pictured above is not my wife. For one thing, my wife’s diamond engagement ring isn’t that big. You’d have to squint, as in really squint until your eyes hurt, to see the rock in her ring. And second, she doesn’t want her picture here. She’s shy. Like me. :aie: Ok. Moving on.

During the last few weeks, my wife was a little bit concerned on why she haven’t felt the baby move yet. Most books mentioned would-be moms starting to notice the baby’s movement as early as 16 weeks. It seemed that every night, after I talked and/or sang to the baby, I would try to hear him/her move inside. Many times, she’d joked how she felt something kick and touch her tummy. But when I’d rush over and listen and try to feel it too, she’d laugh and say “Ay inggit! May bonding kami ni baby! Joke lang!”

Yesterday afternoon, while we were relaxing outside in the garden and my wife was saying how the baby is exactly 20 weeks, she suddenly said that she felt a small thud around her navel. Sucker that I am, I rushed to feel and hear it too. I was half expecting her to tell me again that she’s only kidding but her face was serious. It must be real, but it didn’t kick again. Later that night, when we were in bed watching TV, she abruptly said that she felt a kick. I quickly placed my hand in her tummy as she guided them around and I definitely felt a good kick.

Every day our excitement builds up. And we’re all eagerly waiting for his/her arrival. And you know what, on my wife’s check up on the first week of May, we’ll know if it’s a boy or a girl. Exciting!
